So, a bunch of Parrot Head Clubs got together over the
past few weeks and decided to raise some money for Parrot Heads who were
affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. They sold
thousands and thousands of raffle tickets. And finally, on Thursday,
October 13, 2005 at around 9:00 p.m., about 35 friends from the Buckeye Parrot
Head Club gathered around and accounted for all of the tickets, filled up a 5
gallon bucket of ticket stubs, transferred it into a bigger container and then
they pulled a winner . . .
AND THE WINNER IS . . .
Eli Wilson
who, believe it or not, is from Louisiana. I would have to say all is well
with the world at this moment.
Congratulations to Eli. However, everyone is a winner who took part in
this fund raising raffle. Special thanks go out to all of the Parrot Head
Clubs across North America who took part and helped to raise $77,160.00
Yep, that is $77,160.00
for the Parrot Heads In Need Fund. This was truly a Team Effort. A
lot of wonderful people worked hard to pull this off in a short amount of time.
I would like to personally thank all of the club leaders who made this
happen. Also, thanks to the Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club for all of the help
and especially to four main people in our club who worked constantly to ensure
the Internet sales ran smoothly - Susan, Dave, Rachel & McGill. In
addition special thanks go out to Bill Page of PHiP/PHINS who had to deal with
all of the ticket packages coming in at the end and getting his group of Buckeye
Parrot Heads together to pick the winner.
I would also like to thank David Crumbi and all of our friends at Margaritaville
Tequila and PHiP for putting up the prizes and funds to pull this off. Thanks
go out to the Las Vegas and Colorado River Parrot Head Clubs who helped with
some prizes of Bahama Breeze and tiks to the Mac McAnally Show. Also,
thanks to my pal Tommy Rocker who came through at the end when we ran into a
problem with rooms.
Finally, we could not do it all without being part of this wonderful
organization, Parrot Heads in Paradise. I always say we may not be a Jimmy
Buffett fan club, but we are certainly fans of Jimmy and the tropical attitude
he puts out there. So thanks Jimmy for bringing all of us like-minded,
good-hearted folks together. It is truly amazing what some crazy-ass
Parrot Heads can do when they put their hearts and mind to it.
To everyone I mentioned above (and anyone I forgot), there are going to be some
very grateful Parrot Heads thanking you soon. Sooooooooooooooooooooo,
please join me and raise your glass high above your heads and . . .
"In your honor, what time is it?
IT'S TIME FOR A TEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMM DRINK!!!"
We might just do it again.
Fins Up All!
